The World Economic Forum’s tested toolkit and certification framework for the responsible use of facial recognition address the need for a set of concrete guidelines to ensure the trustworthy and safe use of this technology, particularly in the transportation industry. In practice, It enables industry actors to demonstrate that they have implemented robust risk mitigation processes through a detailed self-assessment questionnaire. It also enables them to build a new level of transparency and trust among end-users and stakeholders through an audit framework, run by third-party certification organizations.
