Meta removes accounts of spyware company Cytrox after Citizen Lab report on gov’t hacks (Jonathan Greig, ZDNet)

Citizen Lab has released a new report highlighting widespread government use of the “Predator” spyware from North Macedonian developer Cytrox.

Researchers found that Predator was used to attack two people in June 2021. The spyware “was able to infect the then-latest version (14.6) of Apple’s iOS operating system using single-click links sent via WhatsApp,” according to Citizen Lab.

Rohingya refugees have launched two class action lawsuits valued in excess of $150 billion against Meta, formerly known as Facebook, for its role in sparking the Rohingya genocide in Myanmar.

The lawsuits, which were filed anonymously in the UK and US, allege that the Facebook platform widely disseminated anti-Rohingya hate speech and misinformation while also helping users incite violence, which culminated in the rape, death, and torture of hundreds of thousands of Rohingya.

Fiverr is partnering with Stride Health to help freelancers gain access to health, dental, and vision insurance.

Stride said it will offer Fiverr users personalized recommendations for healthcare plans and attempt to notify them of the government financial assistance available to each freelancer. The companies said there are subsidies and tax credits established under the American Rescue Plan that have made healthcare more affordable.
