Map of streams in Washington, D.C.

The Department of Energy and Environment in Washington, D.C. has created a series of visualizations depicting waterways in the city. The visualizations use historic maps on streams, rivers, waterbodies, and marshes from the Library of Congress and environmental organization Straughan Environmental to show how waterways have changed throughout the District’s history as construction and development influenced water routes and management.
